China’s Ministry of Commerce and seven other departments have issued Implementing Opinions on Accelerating the Development of AI Plus Consumption. Published on 18 June 2026, the Opinions promote the deployment of AI across consumer products, services and commercial activities, drawing on China’s extensive market and diverse application scenarios.
Key priorities include intelligent nursing and rehabilitation robots, health monitoring, companion technologies and the integration of AI with brain-computer interfaces and extended reality. The policy also promotes AI adoption in public facilities and eldercare institutions, alongside pilot applications in households and communities.
